  16.     I want first to express my personal opinion that freebasing is
  17. a very bad thing to do for your body and mind. I have seen a few
  18. people hooked on it, and it is not a nice thing to see. I strongly
  19. disrecommend doing it. It is easy to overdose and die of cardiac
  20. arrest. Some people doing freebase will exhibit the same kind of
  21. behavior as those rats whose pleasure centers are electrically
  22. stimulated: they will do it until either the supply runs out, or until
  23. they die.

  25.     The recipes are readily available. In fact, a few years ago,
  26. police officers would go to great lengths explaining how crack was
  27. made when given interviews (at least in Montreal)! There was also an
  28. article in Time a few years ago explaining the procedures.

  30.     I have never tried any of those procedures or smoked freebase,
  31. and will never do it. The information I post comes from a used booklet
  32. I bought a long time ago ("Cocaine Handbook", by Davis).

  34.     Crack is actually a impure form of freebase. Procedures for
  35. both substances are based on the fact that while cocaine hydrochloride
  36. is very soluble in water, base cocaine is almost insoluble.

  38.     freebase:

  40.     mix about 1 g of coke in 10 ml of water in a small vial.
  41. Slowly add drops of ammonia to the solution. A white milky precipitate
  42. will form. Stop adding ammonia when additional drops no longer result
  43. in precipitation. Add 5 ml of ethyl ether, close vial, and shake. The
  44. precipitate (freebase) will dissolve in the ether. Siphon off the
  45. ether with a pipette (ether and water don't mix), and slowly drip it
  46. on a plate. As the ether evaporates, white crystals will form. This is
  47. the evil freebase. Crush the crystals and put under a heat lamp for at
  48. least 24 hrs to let the solvent evaporate.

  50.     ETHYL ETHER IS EXTREMELY FLAMMABLE. IN THE PRESENCE OF AIR IT
  51. CAN FORM PEROXIDES WHICH WILL SPONTANEOUSLY EXPLODE! ALSO, ETHER CAN
  52. "CRAWL" FROM AN OPEN BOTTLE AND TRIGGER AN EXPLOSION MANY FEET AWAY.

  54.     This is how Richard Pryor almost died. A lot of untrained
  55. people killed themselves doing that procedure, and this is why crack
  56. is now more popular.

  60.     mix 2 parts ok coke HCL for 1 part baking soda in 20 ml of
  61. water. Heat solution gently until white precipitates form, and stop
  62. heating when precipitation stops. Filter and keep precipitate. wash
  63. precipitate once with water (this procedure usually omitted in street
  64. product). Dry 24 hours under heat lamp. Voila. The product is much
  65. less pure (there is lots of baking soda left) but the procedure is
  66. safer.

  73.     insofar as cocaine use is concerned, i have - after many years of
  74.     foolishly self-destructive behavior - discovered a very nice way
  75.     to do coke. take a nasal decongestant sprayer bottle, empty it.
  76.     take a small amount of powdered cocaine - 1/4 to 1/2 a gram - and
  77.     dissolve it in maybe a cubic inch of water. add a drop or two of
  78.     vodka or other ethanol. stir it. the cocaine dissolves into the
  79.     water, leaving the cut(s) on the bottom, a side benefit i didn't
  80.     originally anticipate. pour the solution - a 7% solution, if i may
  81.     offer a nickname - into yon vile vial, and apply to your nasal
  82.     cavities, judiciously.

  84.     if overfilled, you will get a jet of solution. otherwise, you get a
  85.     nice mix of solution and air in a mist that dissolves easily into
  86.     your nasal passages, with consequent bodily effects approximately
  87.     equivalent to a cup of coffee. this is advantageous for many, many
  88.     reasons ...

  90.     (a)    no waste. you get exactly what your body can absorb, and
  91.         no crumbs clinging to your nasal passages and falling down
  92.         your front. you don't get so much that the effect borders
  93.         on toxicity, as you do when doing lines. and you can make
  94.         a 1/2 gram last up to a week, in this fashion.

  96.     (b)    no paraphernalia. this fits nicely into a night bag with
  97.         toothbrush or toothpaste, and is bust-free, in the car, on
  98.         one's person, at one's desk, or crossing international
  99.         borders. no razors, no straws, no mirrors, no 'bullets' or
  100.         little brown vials waiting to fall out of your pocket.

  102.     (c)    no addictive sequence. it's much easier to forego tooting
  103.         when using at this level, and put it aside for the night,
  104.         instead of staying up 'til the wee hours. and it combines
  105.         with being productive about the same way that coffee does.
  106.         ( i have also applied small amounts of methamphetamine in
  107.         this fashion, with similar low-impact effects. )

  109. It's really a shame that the Establishment doesn't apply itself to teaching
  110. people how to use drugs intelligently and creatively, since, clearly, such
  111. paths to competence and maturity exist. If I had known ten years ago what I
  112. have learned through much reading and thinking, I would have saved myself a
  113. lot of money, and, more importantly, a lot of grief and self-destructive
  114. behavior which I have, fortunately, survived.

  116. Please perpetuate this information as widely as possible, the better to teach
  117. people how to avoid addictive behavioral sequences while continuing to explore
  118. the realms of awareness in a mature and thoughtful manner.

  126. Let me first say that this is also freebase.  Its not as pure
  127. as the other recipe and has a *much smaller return* than using
  128. ammonia (no one really does the ether part, just ammonia and heat it).

  140. After gentle heating, it will float to the top, any excess soda
  141. will precipitate to the bottom.  Given that, you'd never filter
  142. it, and the 24 hour heat lamp thing is unrealistic, too.  Note that
  143. what you're trying to do is start and sustain a chemical reaction
  144. (bonding the hcl with the base-soda) so as long as the reaction
  145. is happening you don't have to continue heating.
